At 78 years old, Plastic Omnium is opening a new chapter in its history.
The group of Lyon origins created after the war by Pierre Burelle changed its name so that it better corresponds to its current businesses.
Plastic Omnium becomes OPmobility: the reference to plastic is replaced by that to mobility, in the English version, to be understood internationally.
“
Our brand no longer reflected our profession
,” recognizes Laurent Burelle, the president of the group and CEO of the family holding company.
Plastic now only represents 7% of our purchases
.”
In nearly 80 years, the company, in which the family holding company holds 60% of the capital, has transformed.
“
Originally, we manufactured fertilizers, varnishes, paint, Petri dishes, Teflon, brush mats, household waste containers
,” says Laurent Burelle.
We then moved towards technical parts intended for automobiles such as the commodo
(control on the steering wheel Editor's note)
for the 4CV, car logos, etc.
