Many studies have found that those who stopped using weight loss injections regained weight, and sometimes reached a higher weight. A study conducted in the United States examined whether a ketogenic diet can maintain the weight that patients reached with the help of these injections.

Participants who stopped taking agonists GLP-1 only gained about a kilogram on average in their weight. In comparison, those who continued to take the drugs, gained about 2 kilograms on average. Among the majority of participants in both groups, blood sugar levels were below the threshold for diagnosing diabetes.
