A fire broke out in the historic building of the former Copenhagen Stock Exchange, also called Børsen. The building dating from the 17th century now houses the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

The latter's emblematic spire, 54 meters high, collapsed. Emergency services are on site, with fire trucks surrounding the building. The Danish capital's police said on the social network X that they had blocked parts of the city to traffic, citing the fire as one of the main reasons for the closure of parts of Copenhagen. The fire has been put out, and no injuries have been reported, police said in a statement. The Copenhagen Stock exchange was built between 1619 and 1640, Commissioned by King Christian IV, the building is one of Denmark's most iconic historic buildings. It is located near the Parliament in the Danish capital, in the central district of Slotsholmen, near the city's central business district and the Danes' national parliament, the Folketeatret.
