Volkswagen has registered a series of names that could mark new SUV models in the future. In the front row to be used - according to the periodical AutoZeitung - are the names Taroko, Tempus or Tukan. The latest registrations of the Wolfsburg company with the Deutsches Patent-und Markenamt (DPMA), i.e. the German patent and trademark office, reveal that the new list of names - all starting with T - could be used for models that will broaden the family of SUVs and crossovers, all cars that in Volkswagen have names starting with a T, such as T-Cross, Taigo, T-Roc, Tiguan or Touareg.

The German company has now protected the names Therion, Tamis, Taira, Tyber, Tivas, Tukan, Tera, Teriam, Therion, Thron, Tempus and indeed the questionable (especially for Italians) Taroko. Auto Zeitung specifies that based on the information collected, these could also be company names intended for things other than a new car, such as a new color or a new virtual assistant, or assigned to specific markets. This happened in the past with the Jetta name, which ended up being used only in the United States.
