The funeral of Shemseddine, the 15-year-old teenager who died Friday after being beaten the day before in Viry-Chatillon (Essonne), is taking place.

A farewell that promises to be heartbreaking. The funeral of Shemseddine, the 15-year-old teenager who died of his injuries on Friday after being beaten the day before leaving his college in Viry-Chatillon in Essonne, will be held on Tuesday, announced the mayor of the city , Jean-Marie Vilain.

They will take place "in a town just next to Viry-Chatillon" and the organization of the white march is underway, in conjunction with the family, the councilor said in an interview with AFPTV. It should take place “most certainly in the streets of the neighborhood” of Les Sablons college, he continued.

“People are appalled by what is happening, they are astonished to see how we can achieve this level of violence, especially for a futile reason,” added the centrist mayor.

Four young men were indicted for murder on the night of Sunday to Monday after the death of Shemseddine, 15, beaten Thursday in front of his school in Viry-Chatillon for a dispute involving the sister of two of them, announced the Évry public prosecutor's office.

Killed for a matter of reputation?

Two of the accused, a 20-year-old adult and a minor, were imprisoned while two other minors were temporarily incarcerated before an adversarial debate on Wednesday, explained Évry prosecutor Grégoire Dulin in a press release.

According to the first elements of the investigation and the statements of the accused, cited by the prosecutor, the two brothers learned, several days previously, that “their sister corresponded with people of her age on subjects relating to sexuality” .

“Fearing for her reputation and that of their family, they ordered several boys to no longer have contact with her. They then learned that the victim boasted of being able to speak freely with their sister, having not yet had to undergo pressure from them,” added Grégoire Dulin.

“A teenager has the right to talk with whoever he wants, about the subjects he wants, as long as it respects everyone,” reacted Jean-Marie Vilain to AFP, adding that “a brother or an older sister” does not have to dictate to her younger brothers and sisters “how to behave with their friends and girlfriends”.

A new attack on Sunday

Late Sunday afternoon, another 15-year-old teenager was violently attacked by several people "in the middle of the street" in Viry-Chatillon, the prosecutor's office said. His vital prognosis is not in jeopardy.

An investigation was opened for aggravated violence with premeditation, with a weapon and in a meeting, added the public prosecutor, specifying that “this case has no link” with the death of Shemseddine.
