Ten floors swept away by flames. A fire broke out on the evening of March 28 in a tower under construction in the city of Recife, in northern Brazil. The only one present on the scene, a security agent noticed the fire and alerted the emergency services before leaving the scene unharmed. According to several witnesses, flaming debris falling from the tower started other minor fires as it fell. No casualties were reported.

“The responsible engineer assessed that there was no risk of structural failure, this reassures us a lot,” said Luciano Fonseca, commander of the Recife fire brigade. Ten floors of the building were affected but authorities ruled out the possibility of the building collapsing. The Botanik Torre Flora was due to be delivered in 2026 and measure 28 floors.
