Despite his young age, he had gotten behind the wheel under drugs and alcohol. A 15-year-old teenager responsible for an accident which caused the death of an 88-year-old woman in October 2023 in Payrin-Augmontel (Tarn), was sentenced by the Castres children's court to 24 months in prison, including twelve with a probationary reprieve, reports La Dépêche du Midi.
On the morning of October 30, an octogenarian driving her car arrived at an intersection, and stopped at a stop sign, when she was violently hit by a vehicle traveling at high speed. Seriously injured, she died a week later in hospital.
Immediate incarceration
The driver was a young man of 15, who was obviously driving without a license and was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Facts that he admitted during police custody. Investigations showed that he had borrowed a relative's car, a Citroën C3. He was on his way home when the accident happened.
The victim, like the accused, was from the village where the accident occurred. A warrant of committal was issued against the accused. He was imprisoned following the hearing.
