False manipulation at the town hall of Fréjus (Var). The pay slips of city employees were made available for consultation by all municipal and elected officials this Wednesday, the town hall said in a press release, following information from Var-Matin.
On Wednesday, therefore, all staff received a link allowing access to their monthly pay slip. But this famous link actually made it possible to consult all the personal - and therefore confidential - information of all municipal agents "on a secure internal platform", indicates the town hall.
Internal investigation
“As soon as the city of Fréjus became aware of this accidental broadcast, it immediately reacted by removing access to this file and all agents were informed,” indicates mayor RN David Rachline, already weakened by an investigation into the management of the town hall, in its press release. “In addition, in order to protect the agents and their personal data, a declaration to the CNIL was filed by the city less than 24 hours after the incident,” he adds.
Opposition elected official Emmanuel Bonnemain denounces a “staggering” leak at the microphone of BFM Toulon Var. “Even if the error is human, there are clearly not security systems proven enough to allow this type of leak. It’s distressing,” he breathes.

“It is obvious that there is a real problem with surveillance and securing confidential documents. We are talking about the social security numbers of all municipal agents in the city of Fréjus. We are talking about bank identity statements (…) To what extent are the municipality's other files secure? », asks the community advisor.
For its part, the town hall indicates that an internal investigation is currently being carried out, and that “various measures will be taken in the coming days”. “The municipality points out that any fraudulent use or dissemination of this confidential and internal document may be subject to criminal and compensation proceedings,” the press release concludes.
