An activist from the Core in Fronte independence movement, Stéphane Ori, was indicted by an investigating judge this Friday in Paris as part of an investigation by the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office, according to information from the daily Corse Matin.
Placement in pre-trial detention was requested by the PNAT. A judicial investigation was opened "of the leaders of terrorist criminal associations with a view to preparing one or more acts of terrorism" and "unauthorized acquisition, detention and transport of war material, weapons, ammunition or their elements category A in relation to a terrorist enterprise,” the prosecutor’s office told the regional daily.
A clandestine press conference in 2021
Stéphane Ori was arrested on Tuesday in Bastia by the anti-terrorist sub-directorate (Sdat), then transferred to Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine) on Thursday after his police custody was extended. He is suspected of having participated in the clandestine press conference of the National Liberation Front of Corsica (FLNC) on May 5, 2021.

During this clandestine press conference, a new armed group, called “FLNC Magjhu 21” (May 2021) announced its creation, 45 years after that of the FLNC which announced laying down its arms in 2014.
Presenting themselves as "activists from all components of the FLNC" then dormant, this new armed group announced that it had decided on a "tactical redeployment, pending the initiation by the French State of a real political process of settlement of the Corsican national question", according to a hooded person dressed in black surrounded by seven others, also hooded and armed with machine guns and handguns, in an undetermined location.
Core in Fronte, which denounces “repressive practices” organized several rallies in front of the Bastia police station, in support of the activist. The independence movement estimated earlier in the week that "these methods contribute to destabilizing the current discussions, if not paralyzing them, the objective being for the French State not to allow the stage of true autonomy".
