Omer Adam, EP, "Fime Nights"
After two songs from Omar's new song, I rushed to Google to check if he broke up with his partner Yael Shelvia and I realized that he had not. "Five Nights" is a farewell mini-album, with sad songs, dedicated to the girl who left, soul-searching, broken heart, longing and depression. When you listen to him, you can't help but think that the general tone is influenced by the successes of Osher Cohen and Far Tassi with "Radio Asheat", in a way a return to the enormous influence that Omar had on the entire genre.
In "From Sea to Eternity" he sits on a yacht cabin in the marina with whiskey and a mandolin. The whiskey motif (hey, glory) returns in the Latin nouveau riche "Money or Tears" which sounds like an episode of "Narcos" in Dubai, at the beginning he burns a Mercedes Jeep in the sands, tells how a friend shot someone in the desert and explains that it's "models and nouveau riches, a bunch of interests" . The most Omer Adam of recent years.
In "Gun" he returns to the Turkish depression genre from which he grew at the beginning of his career, with the opening and transition section reminiscent of Ofer Levy. In "Nights and Curses" he continues to whine like a forlorn fox about a crisis in a relationship and goes as far as "Now you hate me, I wish you wouldn't want to leave... I'm sorry for everything, champion of falling".
The best song on the album and the last one on it is "Only Yours", which Adam wrote together with Osher Cohen, who is responsible for the composition and production. A kind of anthem with confessions like "You are no longer excited by the songs I sing" and signs with the promise that it is only hers, at least until the three concerts he has already closed in Yarkon Park in a special arena.
It's not a bad mini-album. It gets the job done, but it's not flashy or rocking either, although Omar allows himself to sing more powerful lyrics here than before. If they asked artificial intelligence to produce four tough and sad songs by Omar Adam plus a romantic ballad, there is a possibility that this is what we would get. It is difficult to demand that he reinvent himself, because he is good at what he does and he also needs to satisfy the audience and compete for his heart and pocket, but Omar is expected to differentiate himself from the younger generation of those influenced and imitators who rose up to him and to rise to an artistic level, to dare, to go deeper, to be the Omar that he gave We have "I confess" on the one hand and "After all the years" and "Far from everyone" on the other.

Eyal Golan is also deeply saddened in the new single "Who else will wait for you", a classic breakup song, well written and composed (Rotem Chen and Ofir Malol), whose production by Yaakov Lamai gives it a subtle and mainstream touch, and immediately puts it in the library of Golan's breakup songs throughout his career . Classic in the sense that if this song had been released in 2004 or 2014, it would have been received naturally, except, perhaps, for technological lines such as "A thousand photos that I am now deleting" and "You are leaving the conversation".
From Golan's mouth, after the last vicissitudes of his life, the words about a partner who abandoned him and slept diagonally sound natural, authentic, and how can one not wink at that famous saying in a line like "even chocolate doesn't taste good anymore and the day doesn't pass". And there are other beautiful lines here like "how the living room will look without you, like someone else's old furniture" and "makes coffee for two, and like him at the end the heart also gets cold".
It's a single that nicely balances Golan's current repertoire, after the phenomenal success of the national war song "Am Yisrael Chai", which became an anthem, and it makes sense that a new album will arrive this coming Passover, when the performances at Bloomfield will come at the beginning of the summer. The children of the genre can continue to fight among themselves about who makes more than a lamp, the square Bloomfield proves that there is only one king.

It is not easy to be an old man. Female singers in the Mediterranean pop genre seem to have it easier on the one hand, because there aren't many of them and they stand out in the landscape, but on the other hand the competition for the audience from the boys, who are coming in waves, and also a new star like Odia, is very strong. In the case of Ben Zakan, outside of the genre, in recent years she faces equally tough competition from pop stars such as Noa Kirel and Anna Zak, who have become the country's babes.
"My Blood", her eighth album in a ten-year career, comes only nine months after the previous album, a good way to restart after the shock of the war. And if it's a reboot for a pop singer, then escapism to the end. There is no trace of war in this album. Her cover version of Rinat Bar's "Angels", which she released five months ago in memory of the murdered, did not include it. On the other hand, it does include an infantile dance version produced by DJ Itay Gallo to the anthem of "A nice butterfly", "I always remain", especially suitable for parties in kindergartens.
The dance also stars in "Avira" ("Ra Ra Ra Ra"), a broad hit with the rapper Ron Hayon that lasts only two minutes and is predestined for DJs to max it out Ra Ra Ra. The party also stars in "Beloved", produced by Jordi, when just before parting she asks him to turn up the volume so he won't hear her heart break. Ben Zaken always knew how to sing a cool dance and this track will have her fans dancing with tears in their eyes.
"Hands in the Air" is an oriental hit for Moabatim, created by Avi Ohion and Matan Dror, and whose transition section after the chorus is the most captivating moment on the album. Ohion and Dror are also responsible for the album's anthem, "like a dumbass" Hulsi, a song that the audience will sing along to at concerts and has the potential to become a country hit if released as a single.
The theme song "My Blood", which Ben Zaken wrote with Yasmin Moalem and Yuval Maayan, is also a kind of anthem, which evolves from a ballad into a cool urban pop with warm lyrics, dedicated to a spouse or husband. Ben Zaken (together with Odia and Moshe Ben Avraham) also wrote the sincere and touching song on the album, "You were my sister", from the mouth of a woman betrayed by her husband's lover.
In "A strong place in my heart", "I have no courage" and "I looked for you in candles", three Mizrahi ballads, she sings to a man after a breakup and manages to produce real emotional touches, even though the songs themselves are standard. That ability to generate emotion with her special voice was and remains one of her biggest relative advantages against her competitors.
"My Blood" opens the second decade of the career for Eden Ben Zaken, which will probably be more complex than the previous one. It's time for her to sing something that will be engraved here forever.
