“Blood rain” is a rather rare weather phenomenon. But more Saharan dust is to be expected during the Easter holidays. The sand should be removed from the car quickly.
It's that time again on the Easter holidays: a very special weather phenomenon is occurring in Germany. A lot of desert sand comes from Africa with the spring air. If the precipitation is contaminated by the reddish precipitation, it is called “blood rain”. The spectacle of the yellowish sky can be nice to see - but the sand becomes a problem especially when it gets deposited on cars. It is recommended to remove it quickly. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

Wash off Sahara sand with plenty of water - otherwise the paint will suffer
Dust on the windows and the headlights and taillights of the vehicle impairs visibility and visibility for others - and thus also affects safety. After washing, the automobile club recommends opening all of the vehicle's doors and flaps and then cleaning the metal surfaces that are otherwise hidden. To do this, use a well-moistened cloth that is washed out as often as possible so that the remaining sand is not spread further.
Sahara dust in Germany: good opportunity for a pollen filter check
If the pollen filter (also called cabin filter) has not been replaced for a long time, now is a good opportunity for a check. If necessary, it should be changed; in many car models you can do this relatively easily yourself. Experts even recommend replacing the pollen filter every six months.
