As announced in February last year, the Renault-Nissan alliance has decided to invest significantly in India, specifically 600 million dollars, to produce new models and increase exports, through an increase in the use of plants located in the country by 80%.

Luca de Meo, CEO of the Renault group, underlined during a meeting, which took place in the Asian country, the importance of this reality, in which it is not easy to compete, and the local programs relating to the near future of the alliance .

To date, there are two entities involving Renault and Nissan in which 15,000 people work: the Renault Nissan Technology Business Center in Chennai and the RNAIPL plant.

There are currently over 1.4 million vehicles of the two brands circulating on Indian roads, the majority of which are developed and produced locally for a percentage exceeding 90%.

Precisely investing in the skills of the workforce will be the key to building the new global cars.

A plan that goes hand in hand with the intention of reducing the carbon footprint and increasing the use of renewable energy, while promoting, at the same time, an improvement in the living conditions of the local community through inclusion, support for study, and health care.

In terms of products, both the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger and Triber are made in Chennai, all based on the CMF/A+ platform, and in the same plant two new SUVs will be developed, with 5 and 7 seats, for Renault, and as many for Nissan.

These are vehicles capable of adapting to the needs of all markets.

As regards the production sites, in addition to the one in Chennai, built in 2008, in which over 10,000 employees work, which will be strengthened in the sectors necessary for both local production and supply;

The RNAIPL plant will also play a key role, in which, following an investment of over 1.8 billion dollars, over 2.7 million vehicles have been produced to date, of which 1.2 million destined for export.

The latter boasts production flexibility that allows it to create different platform models through a single line.
