48 hours after the incident, he was placed behind bars. A man was indicted and imprisoned Wednesday evening for the murder of a 38-year-old man on Monday in Moriani-Plage (Haute-Corse), said the Bastia prosecutor, specifying that he “denies the facts”.
“This man, not particularly known to the authorities, was indicted for intentional homicide and placed in pre-trial detention,” said Jean-Philippe Navarre, the Bastia public prosecutor, without providing further details. He is a thirty-year-old foreigner in an irregular situation who is not a priori known for any offenses, said a source close to the case.
Use of a firearm?
Monday morning, the emergency services intervened in Moriani “at the request of a person who had noticed that his neighbor was injured at the entrance to his home,” the prosecutor said. The emergency services had treated this person with a “throat wound likely to correspond to the use of a firearm” but, despite the care provided, this 38-year-old man had died, added the prosecutor.
An investigation into intentional homicide was entrusted to the Ghisonaccia gendarmerie brigade and the research section of the Haute-Corse gendarmerie to establish the circumstances of these facts. Investigators will have to determine whether it is a settling of scores or a dispute that has gone wrong.
