The sporting year 2024 has another highlight in store: the Ice Hockey World Cup in the Czech Republic. The DEB team wants to repeat its sensational success from last year.
Frankfurt – The year 2024 is full of sporting highlights. After the European Handball Championship on German soil and before the upcoming European Football Championship, the German national ice hockey team is in the spotlight at the 87th Ice Hockey World Championship in the Czech Republic. The DEB team is aiming to repeat last year's impressive performance, when they surprisingly took second place.

Which venues will be used at the 2024 World Cup in the Czech Republic?
The Ice Hockey World Championships in the Czech Republic will be held in only two arenas. The entire preliminary round of Group A will take place in Prague. The Group B games, in which Germany takes part, will be played in Ostrava. Both arenas are usually home to the professional teams of HC Sparta Prague and HC Vitkovice.
The hall in the Czech capital has space for 17,000 spectators. The Ostravar Arena, which opened in 1986, can accommodate around 10,000 fans. While two games in the quarter-finals will take place in Ostrava, from the semi-finals onwards the tournament will be played exclusively in Prague.
