FC Bayern Munich has to compensate for four losses against Borussia Dortmund. Thomas Tuchel is still only causing problems in one position.
Munich – The classic is coming up: FC Bayern Munich awaits Borussia Dortmund in the Allianz Arena on Holy Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The explosiveness of this game in spring 2024? Manageable. Because from a sporting point of view, the eternal duel has nothing of what distinguished it in the recent past.
Bayern against Dortmund: The current scenario hasn't happened for 14 years
For the first time since 2010, a whopping 14 years, neither red will be at the top of the Bundesliga table after black and yellow when the real giants meet head-to-head in the second half of the season. Then as now in first place: Bayer Leverkusen!
And the Werkself received their first Easter presents on Good Friday: Coach Xabi Alonso announced that he would continue to coach Bayer Leverkusen next season. This means that Bayern are losing out in their bid for the coveted Basque, and future ex-coach Thomas Tuchel reacted clearly to the FCB-PK.
Four Bayern failures and still only one luxury problem: Which two central defenders have to go to the bench?
In the media round, Tuchel also announced what the situation was with the staff before the clash with his former club from Dortmund. He has to cope with four failures: Manuel Neuer, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Raphael Guerreiro and Sacha Boey are not available. This means that the Bayern team is practically setting itself up against BVB - only one construction site seems to be open at the moment: the central defense.
There are four potential starting eleven players available: Eric Dier, Matthijs de Ligt (both of whom were last seeded), Minjae Kim and Dayot Upamecano. A luxury problem. Tuchel explained: “It’s healthy competition that’s going on right now. The door is not closed for anyone. Now we’re going into such intense weeks that we need everyone.”

Neuer, Boey, Pavlovic and Guerreiro are out at FC Bayern
The remaining eleven were quickly found: Ulreich replaced Neuer, who tore a muscle fiber in his adductor area while playing for the national team. Tuchel: “Manu is out. It's too painful.” A week later against Heidenheim, Neuer had enough.
Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies, who is apparently willing to leave, will play on the defensive wing; Boey is out with a torn muscle bundle. Because Pavlovic (tonsillitis) and Guerreiro (torn hamstring) also have to miss, Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer will occupy the defensive midfield.
Tuchel can rely on Gnabry and Coman again
At the front everything remains as usual - although Bayern had to worry about Harry Kane and his damaged ankle for a long time. Tuchel announced at the PK: “Harry trained fully with the team yesterday and has improved every day. Everything is fine, he is playing.” Behind him, Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala should provide the necessary drive.
Tuchel also has two aces up his sleeve again for the hot phase of the season: Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman took steps forward during the international break and are options from the bench against Dortmund. Gnabry recently impressed twice as a joker and scored his first two goals of the season as a substitute against Mainz and Darmstadt.
