A month after being found guilty of rape, Daniel Alves could benefit from a provisional release, pending the final verdict.
Daniel Alves' lawyer, Inès Guardiola, would have made this request, according to the Spanish television channel and information from journalist Carlos Quilez, delivered in the program "Tot es mou" and relayed by the Spanish press.
The former Brazilian international player would regain his freedom while waiting for the judges to make a final decision in the rape case for which the forty-year-old was sentenced at first instance to four and a half years in prison.
The Barcelona Court of Appeal is due to deliver its decision this Tuesday during a morning hearing from 9 a.m.
“It’s 50-50,” says journalist Carlos Quilez.
Dani Alves was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for the rape of a young woman on December 31, 2022 at Sutton, a nightclub in Barcelona.
The ex-Barca and PSG player is also subject to five years' probation from his release from prison, as well as €150,000 in compensation for the victim. .
The former footballer was also not authorized to communicate with the young woman for nine and a half years.
Alves and his lawyer are demanding acquittal, arguing that the sexual relations with the young woman were consensual.
For its part, the prosecution also appealed and requested a heavier sentence than that required at first instance against the former footballer.
