As we announced to you last Thursday, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs will travel to Paris, more precisely to the Accor Arena, in 2025, to play two NBA regular season matches.
The information was confirmed by Gregg Popovich, the Texans coach, during the night from Sunday to Monday.
On the sidelines of Spurs' victory against Brooklyn (122-115), the American was questioned by a journalist about a possible trip to the French capital.
“Well, we’ll go,” simply retorted the coach with five NBA championship titles.
“It’s going to be very special”
The question was also asked to Victor Wembanyama.
The French interior said he was very eager to play in Paris: “I'm really looking forward to it, obviously.
It's going to be very important to me.
Coming back to where I'm from, plus in my surrounding town, it's going to be very special.
And I'll be able to see my family in the middle of the season, which doesn't happen often.
That's great.

The San Antonio Spurs are scheduled to play the same team twice in the span of three days, likely on a Thursday and Saturday.
The NBA also thought about scheduling these matches at the Défense Arena in Nanterre, close to Victor Wembanyama's home, but ultimately preferred to stay at the Accor Arena, Porte de la Chapelle.
The Spurs have not played a match in Paris for 22 years and a preseason match against Memphis.
Victor Wembanyama, well on his way to being voted best rookie of the season, took the opportunity to deliver a great performance against the Brooklyn Nets.
Author of 33 points, 16 rebounds, 7 blocks and 7 assists, he largely contributed to the Spurs victory at the end of overtime.
“I'm far from being at my best,” measured the 2.24 m giant.
Wemby put together a HISTORIC performance in the Spurs overtime win against the Nets!

For his part, Gregg Popovich was once again impressed by his player.
Jokingly, he even had fun at his young age: “He is still very young, all my best Bordeaux are older than him!
