Consistently negative feedback: Wuiderermarkt in Tegernsee has to take a break this year

2024-04-19T17:05:16.092Z

Highlights: The Tegernsee Business Association has almost 30 members. Chairman Florian Riethmuller was all the more sorry that only a few members showed up for the general meeting. It became clear at the meeting that the feedback from exhibitors had recently been consistently negative. This year, the traditional craft and traditional costume market has also been postponed from its original date in June to the end of September. “That doesn't seem to make sense,’ says the minutes of the annual general meeting of Tegernsee business people.

Because the response was bad recently, the Wuiderermarkt in Tegernsee will probably have to be canceled this year. This became known at the general meeting of business people. There was also a lot else to discuss.

Tegernsee

– The Tegernsee Business Association has almost 30 members. And the topics that the merger deals with are certainly explosive. Chairman Florian Riethmüller was all the more sorry that only a few members showed up for the general meeting. The topic this time was, among other things, the low response to the Wuiderermarkt, which always takes place parallel to the Bergfilm Festival: The market probably won't take place this year.

Wuiderermarkt: Feedback has been consistently negative recently

“We have to rethink the whole thing,” says Riethmüller about the Wuiderermarkt. It became clear at the meeting that the feedback from exhibitors had recently been consistently negative. The chairman makes it clear that visitors to the mountain film festival are not the typical clientele that also visits a market. This year, the traditional craft and traditional costume market has also been postponed from its original date in June to the end of September. This means that two very similar markets would take place in Tegernsee within a few weeks. “That doesn’t seem to make sense,” says the minutes of the annual general meeting. The market will therefore take a break this year.

Business people complain about a lot of vacancies in Tegernsee

In general, the situation has not become any easier for the business people in Tegernsee, explained Riethmüller, operator of the Seehotel Zur Post in Tegernsee, according to the minutes at the meeting. There is a relatively frequent change in shops and a lot of vacancies in critical areas of the city. “It would be desirable from our side that the gaps be filled again,” say the business people. They also hope that the demolition and new construction of the derelict Guggemos inn on the main street will begin this year. A questionnaire campaign among all Tegernsee business owners planned by Regional Development Oberland (REO) is intended to show where further action is needed to make Tegernsee more attractive again as a location for businesses. The association hopes for a large response.

Association criticizes the new Christmas lights

At its meeting, the association criticized the new Christmas lights on Bahnhofstrasse, which were used for the first time last year. This was too subtle for the taste of the members present. These are the same green stars as those used in Gmund, for example. The association, which had promoted more attractive Christmas lighting in the past, was actually “hoping for more eye-catching LED motifs”. It was also noted with regret that the long-desired redesign of Rosenstrasse was still a long time coming. The business people say that the appearance of Kalterer Platz is considered “not very attractive”, especially since the maypole has no longer been put up.

In an outlook for 2024, it was announced, among other things, that the flyer for the Seelaubrundweg would be republished and possibly also digitized. The REO wants to look for funding opportunities here. The club's homepage itself should also be improved; it is neither up to date in terms of appearance nor content, according to the minutes. Member Claudio de Rosa agreed to take on this work.

Riethmüller is starting his second term as chairman

In addition, the business people want to collect ideas on how prominent points in the town could be made more attractive. Here, day guests and vacationers should have the opportunity to take photos and later post them on the Internet. These points, the business people emphasize, should not be located on the lake again, but rather should attract visitors to the town if possible.

New elections were also on the agenda at the meeting. Riethmüller, who was elected to the top of the business community for the first time in the summer of 2021, remains chairman. He will be supported by Marietta Gollé-Leidreiter as second chairwoman. Sabrina Rössel took over the office of cashier from Jürgen Kaul, who will act as auditor in the future. The secretary is Doris Gollé-Leidreiter, and Niyazi Karasubasi and Claudio de Rosa join the board as owners.
