Lando Norris took pole for the Sprint race at the Shanghai circuit. The McLaren driver preceded Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes and Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin. The Ferraris: Carlos Sainz fourth, Charles Leclerc seventh.
Stroll was the fastest in the only free practice sessions
Lance Stroll set the best time in the only free practice session of the Chinese GP, the fifth round of the Formula 1 World Championship. At the wheel of his Aston Martin the Canadian preceded the Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and the leader of the championship, the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The other Red Bull, with Sergio Pérez, achieved the fourth fastest time, ahead of the Haas of German Nico Hulkenberg and Danish Kevin Magnussen. The two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz concluded the session in 13th and 14th position.
The weekend's only hour of testing was interrupted for a few minutes due to a fire on the grass near the circuit. When the fire, whose origin is unknown, was extinguished, the pilots were able to return to the track.
