The US Treasury announced today (Thursday) new sanctions against Iran's UAV, steel and vehicle industries following the attack on Israel on the night between Saturday and Sunday. The move is coordinated with the United Kingdom which simultaneously announced the imposition of similar sanctions on Iran.
The sanctions were imposed on 16 individuals and two Companies involved in Iran's UAV program. Sanctions were also imposed on five companies that supply materials to Iran's steel industry and three companies related to Iran's automobile industry.
US President Joe Biden said that "the sanctions are directed against elements related to the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian Ministry of Defense. We are obliged to increase the economic pressure on Iran. Our partners in the world will announce further steps. Anyone who supports the Iranian attacks should know: the US is committed to the security of Israel and the defense of American forces in the Middle East, and we will not hesitate to take all the necessary steps to come to terms with them."
Foreign Minister Israel Katz thanked Biden for his decision to impose new sanctions against Iran: "I thank the President of the United States for his firm commitment to Israel's security and for his announcement that the United States will impose new sanctions on leaders and entities associated with the Revolutionary Guards, the Ministry of Defense of Iran, and the missile program And Iran's drones, following its wild attack on Israel," Katz said.
"The president announced that he expects all his partners in the G7 to take the same path. This is our opportunity to establish a global front and a regional coalition against Iran, together with the US, the European Union and moderate Arab countries to stop the head of the snake that threatens global stability. Iran needs to be stopped now before it's too late," he added.
