The members of the Bad Wiessee building committee dealt with a structural application to modernize the Jägerwinkel private clinic. They weren't thrilled.
Bad Wiessee – It has long been known that the Jägerwinkel private clinic in Bad Wiessee wants to reposition itself. There have been plans to modernize and expand the clinic for years. In spring 2021, the building committee had already approved an application to build an extension on the east side of the building and to build an underground car park. However, the new ward has not yet been built. Instead, the committee now had a proposal for a text. The building committee members were not very enthusiastic about this.
“Preparatory measures on the site are already underway,” said building authority manager Anton Bammer when he presented the desired changes at the most recent meeting. Accordingly, the transition from the new building to the existing building had to be replanned; the number of patient rooms in the new ward block was reduced from 21 to 17, and at the same time the corridor and stairwell widths were increased. The client has also reduced the number of parking spaces in the underground car park and, due to fire protection requirements, the architect has also added a second escape route in the form of an external staircase on the east side.
Construction plans for the Jägerwinkel private clinic: Harsh words about the outside staircase
The latter point in particular caused displeasure in the committee. “That’s not the best thing yet,” said Benedikt Dörder (SPD) about the escape staircase. Since it is a new building, the escape route must also be implemented inside the building, he said. CSU spokesman Florian Sareiter saw it similarly. “We have to make it clear here that we don’t want an outside staircase in this form.” After all, this is the east view – “you can see it directly,” said Sareiter.
Johannes von Miller (Greens) was even clearer: “A new building with such an ugly outside staircase is not possible.” People would come here to relax. The house also has to be attractive. In this context, Miller criticized the appearance of the clinic in general. He described it as a “hodgepodge of additions from different times.” He was not alone with his opinion. “In terms of design, there is still a lot of room for improvement,” commented Johann Zehetmeier (FWG) on the current planning. Benedikt Dörder, who found the new ward block “very useful”, called for a “second round” in the approval process so that the applicant could make improvements. That was also in the spirit of Bernd Kuntze-Fechner (SPD): It was a new building, “we don’t need to turn a blind eye to it”.
The committee ultimately rejected the tecture application with a vote of 9-0. The Jägerwinkel Clinic was given the task of “finding a more attractive solution” for both the external staircase and the overall design.
