After eight years of work, Le Royal Mansour Casablanca reopened its doors this Monday, April 15, a complete facelift for this emblematic hotel of the kingdom.

In the heart of the Art Deco district of Sidi Belyout, a luxury hotel giant wakes up from its long sleep. After eight years of closure, demolition and complete renovation, Le Royal Mansour Casablanca reopened its doors on Monday at 27 avenue des Forces Armées Royales, embodying the renewal of the Moroccan metropolis and confirming its ambition as a major tourist capital. When it was first inaugurated in 1951, the Royal Mansour, then Casablanca's first five-star hotel, was envisaged as a symbol of the modernity of the White City.

Its reconstruction has scrupulously respected the clean lines and large volumes characteristic of the original. Casablanca, recognized as a hotbed of modern architecture, has seen achievements such as the “Levy Bendayon” (Marius Boyer, 1928), “Moretti-Milone” (Pierre Jabin, 1934) buildings. These buildings set the stage for the ultramodern style of the 1950s, exemplified by villas with Californian accents and Leonard Morandi's "Liberty", the first African skyscraper, which rises 78 meters from the ground. One of the most beautiful establishments in the city, the Royal Mansour Casablanca closed its doors in 2015 for renovations for a few months... Speculation was rife regarding its future architectural style.

Return to modernist sources

Purists can rest assured, it faithfully incorporates all the codes of modernist architecture. In 2024, the refined furniture, the patios overflowing with greenery and the majestic staircase have been designed to perpetuate the

fifties

spirit while integrating contemporary standards. Grandiose volumes, breathtaking perspectives... A double panoramic elevator to reach the restaurants on the 23rd floor, which overlooks the Atlantic with a unique point of view over the different districts of Casablanca, a spa of more than 2,500 m2 on two floors, a suspended glass walkway, a collection of works of art, without forgetting the 93 rooms, the 39 suites and the 13 private apartments which promise a dive into discreet luxury... We find the Royal Mansour DNA and even a ballroom in this establishment whose mission is to acquire the prestige of its big brother in Marrakech.

Cultural Renaissance

But the impact of the reopening of the Royal Mansour goes beyond luxury hotels. An entire sector is benefiting from this renaissance. More than 400 positions were created, under the direction of Frenchman Laurent Roussin, an experienced figure in the hotel industry for whom “

this new hotel in Casablanca has its own personality, consistent with the identity of the city. As in Marrakech, the Royal Mansour signature is there: we find the excellence of the service, the discretion and confidentiality dear to our guests. All in an exceptional place anchored in its destination

.” Executive chef Ronan Cadorel promises a great international gastronomic experience with three restaurants including a brasserie, a sushi bar and a large Moroccan table. This renewal is also cultural: the hotel stands as a symbol of contemporary Casablanca, a city that skilfully combines tradition and modernity. Often overshadowed by Marrakech in terms of tourism, it asserts its status as an economic and cultural capital here. Without glitter, but with chic. From 417 euros until May 15 in “opening offer” rate, then 560 euros in a double room.
