Highlights: The Crous call center of the academies of Versailles, Créteil, and Paris, located in the 5th arrondissement, will relocate its activity outside the Île-de-France. The Union Etudiante Paris union published a press release in which it denounced the elimination of several positions. 30 students working for this call center, dedicated to questions related to scholarships based on social criteria, have already had to leave their positions. "This choice was made to improve service to students, because it is not normal that we cannot answer the phone," defends the director of the Crous de Paris, Thierry Bégué. He recalls that the national dropout rate objective is 85%, while this Parisian center could not even absorb "half" of it. A total that is far too low compared to the 700,000 students gathered in the three Ile-de-France academies. The end of the changeover should take place on June 1 for the Parisian platform.

A relocation with complex consequences. On Monday, the Union Etudiante Paris union published a press release in which it denounced the elimination of several positions in a Crous call center in Paris, leading to a loss of their jobs for 30 students.

Located in the 5th arrondissement, this center until now managed the academies of Créteil, Versailles and Paris. But according to the director of Crous de Paris, Thierry Bégué, the Parisian contact center has “always suffered”. According to him, the volume of calls to be processed was too high, which prompted him to decide in February, following an audit, to relocate this center to several others outside the Île-de-France. -France.

Since April, some students working for this call center, dedicated to questions related to scholarships based on social criteria, have already had to leave their positions. “The Créteil academy is absorbed by the Grand-Est telephone platform in Strasbourg, Versailles by Rennes and Paris by Clermont-Ferrand,” describes Thierry Bégué. These are platforms with solid teams, greater response capacities, and suitable premises. » If Versailles and Créteil have already been transferred in April, the end of the changeover should take place on June 1 for the Parisian platform.

“This choice was made to improve service to students, because it is not normal that we cannot answer the phone,” defends the director of the Crous de Paris. He recalls that the national dropout rate objective is 85%, while this Parisian center could not even absorb “half” of it. A total that is far too low compared to the 700,000 students gathered in the three Ile-de-France academies.

On the side of the Union Etudiante Paris, we denounce a single telephone number “designed to receive even calls relating to questions which do not fall within our field of competence”. Which would explain, for the union, the excessively high rate of non-response.

What fallback solutions for student teleconsultants?

So, what’s next for these telephone advisors? Wishing to “find solutions so that they suffer as little as possible from this decision”, Thierry Bégué assures that he “suggested [the students] to contact the Crous recruitment service to gradually find solutions, because the Crous is recruiting! »

In a logic of redirecting student-telephone advisors to new positions, the director of the Crous de Paris assures that he has offered them fallback solutions. “We are setting up an JO team which resembles the call center because we are in contact with the students affected by rehousing, but there are also our scholarship services, housing, catering, etc.,” he lists. . They have priority over all recruitment we have here. »

A next meeting between Thierry Bégué and the students concerned is planned for this Thursday. In order to find an outcome favorable to both parties, before the “rush” of the next school year.
