Le Figaro
learned from a police source this Wednesday April 17, confirming information from France 3.
The scene took place in the Zaragoza district, in the afternoon, we are told. While on patrol, a team from the local security group (GSP) noticed an
“unhelmeted”
individual driving a suspicious scooter, with the
“starter wires visible”
. The police tried to intercept him, and asked him, once they reached him, to stop. The individual refuses and flees.
“Double fracture”
But the GSP team managed to find him a few minutes later. One of its members then tries to question him. The individual rushes towards the agent and
“hits him at full speed”
. The police officer is thrown to the ground. The rest of the team still manages to catch up with the fugitive, who was riding a stolen scooter. Arrested, he was placed in police custody before being indicted.
The injured police officer was taken to hospital. His right foot has a
“double fracture”
. An investigation was opened to determine whether the driver intended to injure or even kill the police officer.
The Pyrénées-Atlantiques national police wished
the injured officer a
“good recovery”
on their social networks. The Alliance Police union also demanded
“exemplary sanctions”
against the
“hooded and helmetless”
pilot who practiced
“rodeoing in the streets of the city”
.
“It is unacceptable that the police officers responsible for maintaining public peace are the target of lawless delinquents capable of the worst to escape their responsibilities
,” writes the union in particular.
