Highlights: The Puchheim folk festival unites everyone. Different generations meet in and around the festival tent. Dieter Geltinger, 82, is one of the regular guests at the event. The event was revived eleven years ago and opened the folk festival season in the region. The first measure given by Hacker already tastes good. Everyone is now looking forward to the train to the Volksfestplatz. There is a celebration there, from young to old. And all generations come together here, from children's carousels to loud parties to a cozy seniors' afternoon. It's like a class reunion. It is simply an absolute must. And now something is moving a bit.

Whether young or old, the Puchheim folk festival unites everyone. The little ones marvel at the colorful carousels. And for the adults it's like a class reunion.

Puchheim

– Whether three or 83 years old: many Puchheim residents look forward to the folk festival all year round. Different generations meet in and around the festival tent. Everyone has their favorites, what they like to do most at that time. But one thing most people have in common is that they look forward to meeting lots of old acquaintances.

Things really get going in Puchheim on the first Saturday of the folk festival at the latest. Especially when the white-blue sky (the real one, not the one in the tent) is really at its best. At lunchtime the clubs line up in front of the train station. White traditional shirts shine, trumpets shine in the sunlight and the first measure given by Hacker already tastes good. Everyone is now looking forward to the train to the Volksfestplatz. There is a celebration there, from young to old.

For 82-year-old Dieter Geltinger, the folk festival is one of the highlights of the year. “There isn't that much else going on in Puchheim when it comes to events. And now something is moving a bit.” Of course, he writes the date down in the calendar long in advance. It is simply an absolute must.

Geltinger is one of the regular guests at the event, which was revived eleven years ago and opens the folk festival season in the region. And all generations come together here, from children's carousels to loud parties to a cozy seniors' afternoon.

This is also a must for the Geltinger couple. A special treat: “We are picked up in the city’s own rickshaw. We will definitely meet a lot of friends there,” says the Puchheimer. Geltinger is head of the seniors department at FC Puchheim and is well connected for that reason alone. He will also represent his club at the pageant this Saturday, wearing leather pants, a hat and sunglasses.

One person who hasn't experienced all the hustle and bustle so often is Moritz Hackmann. At three years old, he is probably one of the youngest visitors that day. He finds the old tractors that roll along Lochhauser Straße particularly exciting. His sister Anna (6), on the other hand, is looking forward to the Punch and Judy show and the Wheel of Fortune at Children's Day (on Wednesday). She liked both the most last year.

“I have a lot of fun moving,” says ten-year-old Sophia Sabo. She even runs along with her sister Paulina (6). The two proudly wear the coat of arms and nameplate of the Puchheim wind orchestra.

When they arrive at the festival site, they will probably do a few laps on the carousel. But Sophia doesn't know what else is on the program because: "There are different rides every year."

And then there is the generation that particularly looks forward to the party evenings (Friday and Saturday). The four boys Daniel Tanner, Michael Senner, Stefan Stojcevic and Gabriel Ebong play football together in a recreational team and especially rave about the atmosphere in the festival tent. “We were at the tapping on Friday and it was bombastic. Every table was fully booked and people came from everywhere because it is the first folk festival of the year,” reports Senner.

It is also a must for the four of them, as well as for Senior Geltinger. “We were born and grew up in Puchheim. That’s why it’s just part of it,” says Tanner. It's like a class reunion. “You meet old friends from school there every year.”
