“Deal concluded”: Julia Vignali arbitrates “Le Duel des flea markets” on France 3

2024-04-17T07:17:53.765Z

Highlights: France Télévisions relaunches prime time dedicated to auctions. Two teams of two viewers, keen on old objects, compete with the aim of making the best profit. Two Parisian friends will wander the flea market in Lisieux (Normandy), and Rémy and Benjamin, nurses, will seek their happiness in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (Vaucluse). To help them unearth treasures corresponding to three imposed themes (the 19th century, the period from 1900 to 1960, and that from 1961 to the present day) and purchased with their own money, they will be able to count on the experience of antique dealers Caroline Margeridon and François Cases Bardina. Nothing is left to chance, and amateurs and professionals will have to use their flair to find the rare gems that can help them win the prize. The principle of this variation, launched in 2020, of "Concluded Deal"? Two teams of two viewers competing to make the best profit.

The host, who, after Sophie Davant, successfully presented “Concluded Deal”, relaunches prime time dedicated to auctions.

Last summer, Sophie Davant made the choice, reluctantly, to leave

“Affaire concluded”

in order to host “Sophie and the friends” every afternoon on Europe 1. To replace her, France Télévisions was not far away and called on

Julia Vignali

, who, herself and after only two seasons, abandoned the co-presentation of “Télématin” (where she was replaced by Marie Portolano).

A risky choice as viewers show loyalty to this program, but which, despite some initial concerns, turns out to be a winner. Since August 28, the host can indeed boast of regularly equaling, or even exceeding, the audiences recorded by Sophie Davant. Building on this success, it was only natural that the group entrusted him with the helm of the “Duel des flea markets”. The principle of this variation, launched in 2020, of “Concluded Deal”? Two teams of two viewers, keen on old objects, compete with the aim of making the best profit.

For three hours, Clara and Éléonore, two Parisian friends, will wander the flea market in Lisieux (Normandy) while Rémy and Benjamin, nurses, will seek their happiness in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (Vaucluse). To help them unearth treasures corresponding to three imposed themes (the 19th century, the period from 1900 to 1960 and that from 1961 to the present day) and purchased with their own money, they will be able to count on the experience of antique dealers Caroline Margeridon and François Cases Bardina as well as the expertise of auctioneers Harold Hessel and Delphine Frémaux-Lejeune. Pair of armchairs, Lorraine crystal champagne cellar, smoked glass table on chrome legs, wooden chairs, child's chair, Napoleon III sheet metal tray, horse racing game, bronze sculptures, medicine ball in crystal, hanging cartel, candelabra... Nothing is left to chance, and amateurs and professionals will have to use their flair to find the rare gems that can help them win the friendly competition since there is nothing to win.

Finally, after having found their objects, the amateur bargain hunters will transform into sellers facing twelve dealers (six antique dealers and six professionals regulars on the daily France 2 show). Under the magnificent and majestic oak frame of the Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives grain market, they will have the happy surprise of seeing the auctions soar. The passion for the old cannot be denied, and the success of “Affaire concluded” is also an illustration of this. Launched in August 2017, the show continues to attract viewers in large numbers. The two numbers programmed each day oscillate between 900,000 and 1.5 million people (i.e. between 14% and 18% audience share).

The record dates back to November 20, 2018 with 1.9 million followers, or 19.8% PDA. However, prime times are less popular with viewers. The latest, dedicated to objects found in Arras and Toulouse and presented by Sophie Davant, brought together only 1.8 million people, or 10.5% of the public. It was June 20, 2023. Proof that daytime viewers are not the same as those in the evening.
