Especially if you are vacationing in a country with a different currency, dinner can quickly become a financial nightmare. An Australian TikToker who traveled through Europe for several months has now reported on such an experience. The prices in one country in particular took her breath away.

On her TikTok account, Maria Antoniou shares travel reports from Italy and Spain, among other things, and gives her followers tips and tricks for their own trips. In a clip, Antoniou talks about her experiences with the prices in Switzerland - and was stunned.
Switzerland “will forever be the most beautiful and breathtaking place” she has ever visited, the Australian begins her video – but the prices are a disgrace. The TikToker also has an example. She went for a burger with her boyfriend in the holiday resort of Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. Not even the taste could justify the prices. The Australian described the burgers as “so average”. Antoniou and her boyfriend were probably not the only ones who were surprised by the high prices in the Swiss holiday region. As the Australian further reports, every evening you could see how countless tourists stocked up on bread, butter and canned tuna in the local supermarket in Grindelwald so that they didn't have to eat out.
Under the video, various TikTok users commented on similar experiences during their visits to Switzerland. “A BigMac menu in Zurich costs 35 Australian dollars (21 euros),” writes one user. “How can people afford to live there? Serious question,” wonders another user. However, Antoniou is not deterred by her negative experiences and still advises her followers to take a trip to the Alpine republic.
