Bad Wiessee is changing. Many construction sites in town bear witness to this. The community itself also has to manage some major projects that need to be managed financially.

Bad Wiessee – “With a volume of around 53 million euros, it is one of the largest budgets in our history,” emphasized Mayor Robert Kühn at the beginning of the special session.

Record budget in Bad Wiessee

He was pleased that the income situation was good, even if the community had its debts. It was also possible to forego the loans planned for the past three years - at least a proud sum of 25 million euros. The town hall boss emphasized that this is thanks to sensible decisions and responsible handling of citizens' money. The resulting investments are intended to strengthen infrastructure, education and quality of life and thus also the well-being of future generations.

In his report, treasurer Ströbel described the community’s two largest current projects as “enormous”. The remaining amount for the new construction of the daycare center will be 5.45 million euros, the renovation of the Gasthof Zur Post is set for 2024 with a partial cost of 10 million. But other items also need to be addressed in 2014. The remaining costs for the demolition of the bathing park are estimated at 841,000 euros.

Investments need stable income

It is to be hoped that the positive development of income from taxes and duties will continue as in 2023, said Ströbel, because this could partially finance the planned investments in the budget. Nevertheless, new debt of almost 10.6 million will be necessary in 2024. The municipality's debt amounted to a good 15 million euros in 2023 and has decreased by almost 940,000 euros since 2022.

Wiessee's treasurer is expecting revenue of 3.8 million euros from the casino levy, which is 600,000 euros higher than the previous year. The municipal share of income tax is calculated at 3.4 million. According to Ströbel's estimates, the trade tax will bring in 4.5 million euros. But the district levy will also increase to around five million this year due to good accounting results for individual taxes. Due to collective bargaining in 2023, personnel costs will have a greater impact at around 3.7 million euros.

The tourism contribution is expected to bring 1.4 million euros into the coffers, 200,000 euros more than in 2023. Ströbel expects the spa tax to be at the previous year's level of 1.3 million euros.

Planned investments by the community

The administrative budget for 2024 is 28 million euros, with the addition to the capital budget amounting to 4.7 million. The latter is 24.9 million euros. The 2024 budget has earmarked 500,000 euros to finance the Jod- und Sulfurbad Health Center GmbH. Other planned investments include renovation work to expand operations in the bathhouse (net around 930,000 euros), relocation of the schoolyard (750,000 euros), heating conversion in the school (400,000 euros), roof renovation of the Wilhelminaquelle (190,000 euros), expansion of Freihausweg (275,000 euros). ), water pipe in Bodenschneidstrasse (320,000 euros) and sewer laying in Bodenschneidstrasse (315,000 euros).

Like his valley colleagues, the treasurer has not yet set a sum for the new inter-communal indoor swimming pool. We have to wait until the project has taken concrete shape, said Ströbel. The committee honored his work with applause, including his words of warning to continue to concentrate on mandatory tasks within the scope of what is possible in view of high investment costs.

The comments on Ströbel's planning were consistently positive. There was talk of a “great achievement” and a “great work”, of “many small pillars for our community that are all consistent”.

Thomas Erler (CSU) expressed regret that the audience in the meeting room remained almost empty. Such disinterest on the part of citizens is “not okay”. The Wiessee budget was finally approved with one vote against.
