Inflation rose slightly in March. This was announced by Istat, specifying that last month it was estimated that the national index of consumer prices for the entire community (NIC), including tobacco, recorded no cyclical change and an increase of 1.2% on an annual basis, from +0.8% in the previous month; the preliminary estimate was +1.3%.
In March the "shopping cart" shrinks: according to Istat, the prices of food, household and personal care goods slow down on a trend basis, going from +3.4% in February to +2.6%. Furthermore, the price lists of high-frequency purchasing products also fell (from +2.8% in February to +2.5%). Similar trend also for food goods: the Istata has in fact detected a slowdown compared to a year earlier for the prices of unprocessed food goods (from +4.4% to +2.6%), of tobacco (from +2.6 % to +1.9%) and processed food goods (from +3.4% to +2.8%).
