The German team for the Eurovision Song Contest and especially representative Isaak are not likely to notice this: There is another setback.
Hamburg - There was great optimism in the German camp: Isaak, a pretty nobody, won the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest on February 16th. But the 29-year-old did so with an impressive lead. And secondly, with a nonchalance that seemed almost unusual in the stylish ESC context. So some people may have thought after the preliminary decision: Something could happen again with Germany and the Eurovision Song Contest.
ESC 2024: Germany continues to decline in betting odds ranking
Unfortunately, the rude awakening became reality two months later: Music Europe is talking about completely different acts in the favorites at the ESC final on May 11th. First of all there is Nemo from Switzerland, the betting providers now see this contribution at the forefront. The extended circle of favorites also includes contributions from Croatia, Italy, Ukraine and the Netherlands - the latter is the responsibility of someone who recently greeted us at the top of the German charts.

Bitter: After Isaak had placed himself in the middle of the ratings immediately after the German preliminary decision, he gradually fell away. The Austrian blogs about the ESC on Instagram, among other things, and worked for IPPEN.MEDIA at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin in 2022. “I saw Isaak at a performance in Amsterdam last week and wow, he’s really a good singer!” he told our editorial team, although he was impressed. However, his assessment does not bode well. Will there be another bad flop for Germany with Isaak's song “Always on the Run”? After all, he would be in good company: Germany's performance since 2019 is legendary. Of course, the betting odds do not reflect the actual result. It wouldn't be the first time that an act suddenly attracted attention here in the weeks before the ESC and went from being an insider tip to becoming a top favorite. Or even win in the end. However, it seems almost impossible that someone who is ranked at the bottom of the list among bookmakers can take off like this. Last year's winner Loreen had a specific tip about who Germany should send to the ESC in 2024 - but nothing came of it.
