A five-figure amount of donations has already been collected, at least two charity campaigns are still outstanding and the Bundeswehr reservists, this time accompanied by the Technical Relief Agency and supported by the volunteer fire department, were on the banks of the Ammersee in Herrsching for the second time at the weekend to help.

Herrsching

- After Mayor Christian Schiller's call for donations for the reconstruction of the community bathing jetties in March, there were even inquiries about naming rights. As reported, the community's three bathing jetties, two in Seewinkel and one at the old sports field, were completely destroyed by floods and storms. Since no one expected this damage, the costs of reconstruction were not included in the budget for the current year. So the mayor came up with the idea of calling for donations.

Two new footbridges are planned, higher and therefore more stable in storms. The two jetties in the Seewinkel are to be restored as a large T-shaped jetty. The footbridge at the sports field as it was.

The frames of the jetties were in the lake until the weekend. The reservists of the Upper Bavaria district group led by their chairman Erwin Hantke were already on site in January to remove the washed-up gravel on the bank with a shovel (we reported). On Saturday they arrived again with 16 men, accompanied by nine members of the Munich Central Technical Relief Agency, to dismantle the walkways in a joint exercise supported by the Herrsching volunteer fire department and the building yard. Only the piles remained as so-called anchor points. They are replaced when new buildings are built because they are too low. This time two large tipper trailers full of wood were disposed of.

Meanwhile, the mayor is pleased that almost 30,000 euros in donations have already been received. There have even been inquiries about naming rights. However, since at least half of the cost of a jetty would be required, there was still no commitment. The cost of a footbridge is estimated at 100,000 euros. The charity game for the handball players from TSV Herrsching will also bring money into the donation pot. At the end of the season, an all-star team from the first men's team will compete on Saturday, April 20th. The charity game starts at 4:30 p.m. in the Nikolaushalle. Admission: ten euros or more. All proceeds will benefit the jetty construction. The TV comedian and Herrschinger native Wigald Boning is inviting people to another charity event on Wednesday, May 1st at the Kurparkschlösschen. He had already presented his book “Mr. Boning goes swimming” there at the invitation of the cultural association. Now he is inviting people to a lecture about it – on what will probably be his 570th day of bathing. Start: 7 p.m. Entry also costs ten euros. Boning announced at the annual reception that this proceeds will also benefit the reconstruction of the footbridges.

Meanwhile, the local council's building committee initiated the planning at the most recent meeting. It is already in the town hall and must now be approved by the local council next Monday so that the application can be submitted to the Landsberg district office responsible for the lake. The mayor expects construction to begin in May or June.

If you would like to donate, you can do so on the account Starnberg Ebersberg IBAN DE10 7025 0150 0430 3609 33. Purpose: “Donation for the new bridge building 2024”.
