15 details in Disney films that you can now proudly joke about

2024-04-16T03:23:18.858Z

Highlights: Disney is a master at secretly incorporating characters from other films and that's exactly why Hercules wears Scar as a headdress. “Toy Story 2” also has one small Easter egg at the beginning that even contains one good old lamp in the good old Pixar film “Herbie’s Dory” “Zoomania” parodied its own films in this scene from "Zoeania": "Moana", which is called “Moana" in the original, quickly becomes “Meowana” "Ralph Enough" is "Wreck it, Rhino" – based on the original title “Wreck It, Ralph”. "Baymax – GIANT ROBOWABOHU" features Hans - Anna's ex - as a statue that we could definitely knock over together. The reason for this is that “Baymax” was animated by Pixar Studios and “Frozen” by Disney Animation Studios.

Are you one of those people who likes to watch films more often? Maybe you regularly use your subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Disney+ to curl up with your feel-good trilogy in the evening. This is usually the perfect choice of film anyway if you can't decide on one.

During your rewatch, you'll probably notice a few more details every time: details that hint at a later plot in the film or simply a well-hidden Easter egg. Disney likes to put these in their films and we want to show you some of them today:

1. The Lion King (1994)

Do you still remember one of the legendary and funny SpongeBob quotes: “If your finger is up, people will praise you?” That's

exactly what Simba took to heart when he reluctantly eats bugs. But of course it's just fun! Actually, the lion does this of course because it is supposedly good manners to spread a finger while drinking (or in this case eating). Other theories say that you are showing that you belong to the king's circle.

Both theories make sense, after all Simba himself is king.

2. Zootopia (2016)

Do the names on these off-brand DVDs perhaps sound familiar? Then that's because Disney parodied its own films in this scene from "Zoomania": "Moana", which is called "Moana" in the original, quickly becomes "Meowana" and "Ralph Enough" is "Wreck it, Rhino" – based on the original title “Wreck it, Ralph”.

3. And also from Zootopia

Even a studio as large as Disney's needs to be renovated from time to time. Of course, this also means that the employees have to move quickly, and that was exactly the case during the production of “Zoomania”.

The animators moved to the so-called “Tujunga Campus,” which housed a huge department store. “Tujunga” is therefore also a place that appears in “Zoomania”.

4. Cursed (2007)

Did you know that one of the reasons you might get kicked out of Disneyland is because you're dressed like one of the characters? The troll from "Enchanted" probably didn't take that to heart, because he ONLY wears the clothes of Disney princesses on his underpants.

A bit scary...

5. Frozen – Completely Unabashed (2013)

The Disney love story of Flynn and Rapunzel made them a dream couple and I love watching them again and again. So how happy do you think I was when they showed up together at Elsa's coronation? I hope they both stay together forever!

6. Baymax – Giant Robowabohu (2014)

And speaking of Frozen: Someone we definitely didn't want to see again was Hans - Anna's ex. Nevertheless, the guy shows up in "Baymax" as a statue that we could definitely knock over together.

7. Frozen – Party Fever (2015)

If you saw Hans in “Baymax,” then you might have noticed that Disney turned the tables a year later: In the short film “Frozen – Party Fever,” the cute Snowgies appear and one of them has this Face of Baymax!

Well, if Elsa didn't feel a little better with her cold.

8. Toy Story 2 (1999)

No, it’s not just “Star Wars” that has cool space shots. “Toy Story 2” also has one right at the beginning that even contains a small Easter egg. If you look really closely, you can see the good old Pixar lamp in the stars.

The reason for this is that “Toy Story 2” was animated for Disney by Pixar Animation Studios.

9. Finding Dory (2016)

Did you always watch the “Herbie” films with your parents? Maybe you've already learned that during the "Herbie goes crazy" part, one of the Volkswagens was thrown into the water and then never taken out again.

36 years later, Disney alludes to this very fact when Dory swims past a sunken Volkswagen in “Finding Dory.”

10. Hocus Pocus (1993)

The budget of “Hocus Pocus” was just $28 million. For this reason, there wasn't a lot of money left over for elaborate costumes, which is why many of the actors simply wore costumes from old Disney films! For example, here in the background you can see an actor wearing a suit from “Tron”.

Fun Fact: “Hocus Pocus” grossed Disney around $40 million at the box office, making it considered a flop. Today it is an absolute classic for Halloween and even one of the 90s films that is also popular with younger generations.

11. Rapunzel – Newly Tangled (2010)

We already talked about Flynn and his beloved Rapunzel earlier. She does a lot in her film and meets a lot of different people and creatures - like old Armor or the horse Maximus.

These meetings are hinted at at the very beginning, when the mobile is shown in Rapunzel's children's room.

12. Treasure Planet (2002)

Now you have to look very closely: in the left corner on the shelf you can see Stitch in Jim Hawkins' room! The little alien friend from “Lilo & Stitch” probably wanted to explore foreign galaxies.

13. Kiss the Frog (2009)

Aladdin's Carpet gets around a lot, it's a flying carpet after all! You can also see this if you pay close attention to the resident who is shaking out her carpet at the very beginning. Well, sounds familiar, doesn't it?

14. Mulan (1998)

A super cool detail that shows that there is often a lot of research in Disney films: Mushu reads his newspaper from right to left - just like traditional Chinese text was written.

15. Hercules (1997)

Remember in The Lion King when Zazu says to make Scar a bedside rug? You know, the lion that murdered Mufasa, giving us a screen death we never got over.

Well, something similar happened in “Hercules”: Herk wears Scar’s fur as a kind of headdress and then throws him to the ground!
