, the environmentalist mayor of Bordeaux explained
“taking responsibility for making security a priority”
of his municipal action, in the face of a rise in delinquency deemed
“worrying”
. A notable outing, on a theme rarely put forward as one of the priorities of the left and environmentalists, and a serious trampling on the ground, which provoked the ire of the opposition.
“We have the impression of not living on the same planet
,” explains Nicolas Florian, according to whom
“today, you have areas where people are afraid
. ”
The elected official is demanding
“concrete measures”
from his successor, whose
“inaction”
he has been criticizing since 2020. Like other metropolises whose populations are increasing, Bordeaux is not escaping the rise in insecurity. Faced with this phenomenon, the Renouveau Bordeaux group is proposing various measures, including a consultation for arming the municipal police. In this regard, Pierre Hurmic believes that it would be a sort of
“disengagement of the State”
, by delegating missions relating to the national police (public security) to the municipal police (public peace).
Alert buttons linked to video surveillance
The opposition group also proposes the deployment of alert buttons, linked to the video surveillance system, an anti-burglary plan, and asks the municipal team
“to make effective Pierre Hurmic’s promise to “put blue in the streets
. Nicolas Florian and his group are above all demanding that the mayor of Bordeaux sign the integrated security contract (CSI) with the State. Pierre Hurmic believes on this subject that
“it is the great XXL silence”
, although the CSI is
“on the desk of the Minister of the Interior”
. This blockage would be linked to the distribution of funding for video surveillance cameras, the mayor judging that it is not up to the city to finance these tools used by the judicial police, which reports to the Ministry of the Interior.
“It must be done, it is an important element for Bordeaux, the State is ready so move forward
,” insists Nicolas Florian. Pierre Hurmic, for his part, criticizes Thomas Cazenave - who holds the dual role of Minister for Public Accounts and opposition municipal councilor in Bordeaux - of having
"never supported the request"
from Beauvau, or even of
"delaying the signature of the CSI”
. The councilor therefore asks his opponent for
“a little solidarity”
. For Nicolas Florian,
“it’s childishness”
because it would amount to
“suggesting that it’s someone else’s fault”
. One thing is certain: security in Bordeaux will be an essential subject in the 2026 municipal elections.
