Highlights: Pyrénées-Orientales has launched a new environmental game called E-KO Land. Teams of 4 to 6 players will have several missions to accomplish over two or three days, linked to the environment. Cyrille Taquet plans to give this competition a new type of prize of 25,000 euros. “This will perhaps allow us to reach out to people who would not necessarily come to our department or to motivate others who are worried about the drought,” he adds.

After opening his E-KO Land in Cabestany (Pyrénées-Orientales), a “performer game” on ecology, Cyrille Taquet now sees more

The initial concept is intriguing, a kind of hangar fitted out with recycled materials and games to raise awareness of the issue of waste, the environment, and challenges between teams for the fun part. This is the basis laid by Cyrille Taquet who still plans to develop his E-KO Land gaming room concept in other cities.

Environmental missions

But with spring, he launched a new idea. Deploy the game across all, or almost all, of the Pyrénées-Orientales territory. It starts in mid-April with the opening of registrations. “Our department is suffering from drought, we have water problems, this E-ko games is a way to raise awareness of these issues,” he explains.

Teams of 4 to 6 players will therefore have several missions to accomplish over two or three days, linked to the environment. Including that of doing without a car and taking public transport to go from one point to another, or of collecting cigarette butts on the beaches, in short, overcoming ecological challenges while collecting clues and accumulating points.

“What I imagined was a kind of

,” explains the creator of E-KO Land. The points acquired throughout the events, plus those from the last game which will be played at E-KO Land, will make it possible to establish a ranking which will be revealed at the end of the year. Cyrille Taquet plans to give this competition a new type of prize of 25,000 euros.

“This will perhaps allow us to reach out to people who would not necessarily come to our department or to motivate others who are worried about the drought,” he adds. “We will send them to discover the interior of the department often ignored by visitors who come here mainly for the beaches! » Only two hundred teams will be able to take part in the challenge this year.
