It was a relatively normal year 2023 - the deployments were slightly fewer than in previous years, but the services are increasing,” said on-call manager Andreas Kumeth at the annual general meeting of the Garmisch BRK in the medical depot. There were 48 missions by the local helpers (HvO) and the rapid deployment group (SEG). Commitment is not service.
“Where a few people used to meet and celebrate, today there always has to be a San service,” explained Kumeth. The helpers worked voluntarily and unpaid for 5,500 hours. This number says it all, said District Administrator Anton Speer (Free Voters), who took part in the meeting and was full of praise. Social life would be unthinkable without the helpers, said Second Mayor Claudia Zolk (CSB).

Secretary Kathrin Gottschling reported on the year 2023: 40 training evenings and exercises (resuscitation training, doctor's lectures, introduction to new equipment, blue light instructions) were organized. Gottschling recalled the disaster in Bad Bayersoien. “The helpers were on site to protect the emergency services and with a special measuring device that can diagnose smoke poisoning.” Last year, 39 games of SC Riessersee and TSV Farchant were supervised in the ice stadium, including the historic bobsleigh race at Riessersee and the Zugspitz Ultratrail them up. The helpers and the fire brigade were able to implement the theoretical learning content in several “practice scenarios”. An emergency fire operation was also being practiced, she said. The Garmisch standby currently has 157 members. The on-call youth group has a membership of around 30 girls and boys; there is a bambini group and a youth group.

You receive support from the support association, but flea markets, the Martin markets, and the Christmas tree and property auctions at the traditional Christmas party also contribute.
Helmut Rummelsberger was made an honorary member of the standby team. The helper has been with the Garmisch Youth Red Cross - of which he is an honorary member - since 1976 and has been on standby since 1997. He accompanied several aid transports to Romania, contributed to the renovation of the medical depot, helped the support association and demonstrated his medical expertise in many missions and services and helped many people, praised Andreas Kumeth.
Numerous challenging events await the preparedness in 2024, such as the Alpine region meeting of the Schützen in May, to which 8,500 participants are expected, the Zugspitz Ultratrail in June as well as the BMW Motorrad Days and the “White Night” in July.
