A short period of heat at the beginning of April is now followed by a significant change in the weather in the region. A “distinctive cold front” drives away the summer interlude.
Munich - People bathing, full beer gardens, nature in full swing: the past weekend in Bavaria, Munich and the region will probably go down in the history books in terms of weather. Summer took a detour at the beginning of April. The previous record was probably broken in Munich: It was 27.1 degrees there on Saturday (April 6th) - the highest value so far, according to dpa, was 25.2 degrees in 2011. The sun was also shining on Monday - marred by recurring Sahara dust - from heaven. But the summer interlude will probably come to an end on Tuesday.
“Striking cold front” is heading towards Munich: temperatures will plummet in the next few hours
As the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts, the temperatures will probably drop significantly over the course of the day: "With the passage of a striking cold front today, the end of the early summer weather phase," said the meteorologists. A look at the specific forecast in common weather models shows when this will probably happen: First, Tuesday (April 9th) begins with a mild summer in the state capital. With the sky still cloudy, the thermometer was already showing almost 20 degrees in the morning - values that are otherwise only known from midsummer. Then, in the course of the afternoon, the cold front, which the DWD has already announced, will approach.
After the hot weekend: a drop in temperature expected in Munich
As Wetteronline predicts, the weather will change with wind picking up from midday. The sky should then be completely overcast, and it may start to rain lightly. The temperatures are expected to fall from 20 degrees at midday to just ten degrees by late afternoon. It is expected to start raining more heavily in the evening. The cold front will probably give the region a cold day on Wednesday - compared to the weekend. However, the predicted eleven degrees including rain are normal for the time of year.
