Will Méréville watercress, the green gold of Essonne, soon join the list of PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) products in the same way as Bayonne ham, Guérande salt and Agen prunes? ? This is the wish of 14 local producers led by the Mérévillois cressicultur, Olivier Barberot.
Their will ? Protecting ancestral know-how, which will be celebrated this weekend from March 30 to 31, on the occasion of the 35th Watercress Fair. And increase a reputation which has long gone beyond the borders of Essonne, the leading department producing this semi-aquatic plant with multiple nutritional virtues.
