Matthias suffers from a lung tumor and is in hospice: BRK fulfills his heart's desire
The 72-year-old has a malignant lung tumor. Due to the advanced disease, he is now in a Swiss hospice, as the BRK reports. “His true home for him until the end was a small village in Hungary, where he bought a small house to escape the stressful everyday life and find peace - but with cancer everything turned out differently than planned,” it says of the message.
“Being able to see and experience all of this again was his greatest passion, which we were happy to fulfill with the hospice mobile,” district preparedness manager Florian Halter is quoted as saying. He organized the trip with his team in just two days. Hans and Michael picked up the 72-year-old from the hospice and initially took him and his girlfriend to their old hometown in Bad Reichenhall for a stopover.

The next day we went on to Labod in Hungary with a new volunteer team. The following days the couple were busy refreshing old memories, seeking peace and quiet in the forests of Hungary and meeting friends. “On the two-day journey back from Hungary to the hospice in Switzerland, gratitude and a deep inner satisfaction were written on his face,” says Halter, happy about the successful days in Hungary
