The city of Nuremberg has banned planned protests against the ban on dancing on Good Friday and other silent days. Silent holidays: exceptions possible, but Nuremberg application rejected
Although the Federal Constitutional Court ruled in 2016 that exceptions to the ban on dancing on Christian holidays such as Good Friday are generally possible, the applications in Nuremberg were too general. “We simply received a blanket application for 14 locations, for 14 clubs, from which it is not clear why an exemption is justified,” said Pollack. Protest actions against silent holidays in Munich and Regensburg
The Association for Freedom of Thought has also called for protests in Munich and Regensburg, for a “club revolution” against the ban on dancing on public holidays. According to Assunta, the events were approved there. A demonstration against the ban on dancing on Silent Days and for the separation of church and state is also planned on Munich's Königsplatz on the afternoon of Maundy Thursday. The motto: “Holy Shit - Let us dance!”
