Malta: Tourist dies while diving – 17 people rescued

The divers were in groups off Cirkewwa Rozi, a popular diving site on the northern tip of Malta, Maltese authorities said, according to the Reuters news agency. Sudden strong winds would have caused rough seas. The Maltese authorities had declared the “code yellow” at 1 p.m., but the diving groups were already on the move at that time and were unaware of the report.

Others were rescued from the sea. However, the 45-year-old diver was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
