It was a surprise seizure for agents from the Northern Division of Marseille, dispatched this Friday morning to La Castellane to inspect an apartment whose occupant was subject to eviction. According to a source close to the case, the police, accompanied by a bailiff, entered the accommodation and discovered a large quantity of narcotics.
In total, 7.1 kilograms of drugs, mainly cannabis resin cakes, were found scattered throughout the apartment. Continuing their inspection, the police also seized around fifty 45 mm caliber firearm cartridges.

More than a million euros in cash seized since the start of “XXL net space”
The loot was recovered by the police. It completes the 77 kilos of narcotics already seized as part of the “XXL clean space” operation launched almost two weeks ago throughout the department. According to a recent report released by the Bouches-du-Rhône police headquarters, more than 1.1 million euros in cash, tens of kilos of cannabis, cocaine and tobacco have since been seized in Marseille and in the many towns surrounding it. Since the start of the operation, 459 people have been arrested by the police and 251 of them have been placed in police custody.
