A 21-year-old young man died
after dying for several hours, after receiving a bullet in the head during an attempted robbery at the door of a supermarket in the Buenos Aires district of Moreno.
The tragic episode that emerged in the last hours after the request for justice by the victim's relatives occurred on Tuesday afternoon, when
Brandon Maciel
was leaving a wholesale supermarket located on the Gaona Avenue collectorate and the intersection with the Belisario Rodán street in the town of La Reja, in the west of the suburbs.
Together with a friend he had gone to buy some food, the same day
he celebrated 9 months of marriage
to Oriana, his wife.
When both were leaving the premises,
they were approached by two assailants
who were traveling on a red motorcycle. One of them got out of the vehicle and, pointing a firearm at them, demanded that they hand over their belongings.
While his friend handed over the bag he was carrying,
Brandon wanted to give his backpack to the assailant but one of the straps got tangled
. The thief, perhaps nervous about the situation,
shot him unceremoniously in the head
, got on the motorcycle and escaped with his accomplice without taking anything.
Seriously injured, Brandon was rushed to the General Mariano y Luciano de la Vega Zonal Decentralized Hospital, where he was operated on by doctors. After several hours struggling between life and death, the severity of the wound suffered determined his death on Wednesday.
This Thursday, after being watched, the young man's remains were buried. At the funeral, some relatives expressed their anger at what had happened.
"What killed Brandon was the impunity of this area of Moreno, which
is a liberated area
. You can't live like this anymore," said one of his uncles. He was joined by another family member, who demanded justice.
"They took the life of a boy who was good, hard-working. He had no evil at all. He always looked for things. It can't be that they come, and anyone who passes by, for stealing a backpack or a cell phone, or for not having anything... "If they take everything, they kill you anyway; if they don't take anything, they kill you anyway," the woman said in statements quoted by
TN.
Officers from the district's 7th police station and the Departmental Investigation Directorate (DDI) of that area participate in the police investigation, who carried out different procedures to apprehend those responsible for the crime.
