On RTL on Wednesday everything will be dominated by “The Passion” – but ProSieben viewers will also get the full blast of Bible content. Sebastian Pufpaff moderates as Jesus.

Kassel/Cologne – RTL has long announced the live spectacle on March 27, 2024: Ben Blümel (42), Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht (32), Nadja Benaissa (41) and many other musicians and actors are staging “The Passion” in Kassel. But the modern depiction of Jesus' ordeal has competition for prime time - because Sebastian Pufpaff (47) also puts "TV total" under a biblical motto and mocks the RTL show.

It's not just RTL viewers who are making fun of "The Passion" - ProSieben has also thought in advance about how it can compete against the live event. Without further ado, Sebastian Pufpaff unpacked the Bible on “TV total” – and sat down in the studio dressed as Jesus. The presenter apparently doesn't take the RTL program particularly seriously, because, as usual, all the clips have an ironic undertone.

For example, the ProSieben star hands out pizza at a long table - and stages the Last Supper. Under the motto “The Bible 2: The Funny Testament” he repeatedly refers to passages from the Bible. Only the ratings will show whether viewers ultimately choose Pufpaff's own version of the Passion or the RTL broadcast from Kassel.

In any case, the counterprogram is controversial online. Someone writes on

(formerly Twitter): “Look at the Pufpaff as Jesus on 'TV Total'! Cool!” Others, however, find the action disrespectful: “For every believing Christian, this tasteless, irreverent portrayal of Pufpaff is a slap in the face. Disgusting!”, says one user angrily.

In addition to the procession including cross bearers, viewers of “The Passion” can marvel at many musical acts. In rainy Kassel, the actors perform modern songs reinterpreted. Ben Blümel gets the food for the last supper in a restaurant where Reiner Calmund (75) also eats. In a dilapidated building, the disciples wait around the campfire for Jesus, who is preparing for his ordeal. Through Judas' kiss, he is betrayed - as in the biblical original - and taken away by the police. You can find all information about “The Passion” in the live ticker.
