On Wednesday evening, March 27th, around 8:10 p.m., the Donau-Iller integrated control center was alerted by a fire alarm system about a fire in a recycling company in Wiedergeltingen.
Wiedergeltingen - When the first fire brigade arrived, the company's hall was already fully ablaze and the flames spread to the roof structure, which had a photovoltaic system on it. The fire did not spread to other buildings in the surrounding area, so the emergency services concentrated on extinguishing the hall.
Wiedergeltingen: Fire in a recycling hall - no injuries
No one was injured in the fire as no one was working in the hall at the time the fire broke out. There was significant material damage, which could amount to around 3.5 million euros. The Wiedergeltingen, Türkheim, Amberg, Buchloe, Bad Wörishofen and Mindelheim fire departments, as well as two rescue service vehicles and the THW were on site with over 130 emergency services.
Wiedergeltingen: Fire in a recycling hall - measurements carried out due to significant smoke development
The Unterallgäu District Office - Immission Control, which was also on site with a team, carried out measurements of the significant smoke development. Neither in Wiedergeltingen nor in the neighboring Amberg could any significant pollution be detected. The first investigations on site were carried out by a patrol crew from the PI Bad Wörishofen with the support of forces from the PI Mindelheim. The Memmingen Criminal Police Service (KDD) took over the further investigations, which are being continued by the specialist commissioner of the Memmingen Criminal Police Inspectorate.
