A dedicated conference dealing with the new face of human resources was held this week at Beit Israchert with the participation of companies and organizations. The conference was held in memory of Captain Bamil. The late Ron Afrimi, son of Judy Afrimi, Vice President of Human Resources at the Binat Group, who fell during the Iron Swords War.
VPs and human resources managers in the various companies are dealing with employees who are experiencing trauma and bereavement on a scale never before seen in Israel until October 7, 2023.
Since the outbreak of the war, the human resources teams in hundreds of companies in the economy have had to respond to diverse populations that each face their own challenges: returning reservists from the various fronts and have not yet properly processed what happened to them and are forced to land in a work routine; families of evacuees from the Otaf and the north, some with trauma and anxiety, who were displaced from their homes without knowing when they would be able to return; and many more Israelis who are dealing with the consequences of the war, which has not yet ended.
Behavioral problems of the members of the household, Existential anxieties, flashbacks from the fighting, concern for family members who are still fighting, and a variety of concerns about the present and the future have colored our lives in great darkness and now, in the human resources departments, they are looking for ways to bring some light into the lives of employees.
Tools from a variety of fields can help employees get back to routine
In order to make adjustments and provide the necessary tools to deal with the unique human challenges of an entire traumatized nation, on Tuesday (26.3) dozens of VPs of Human Resources, managers and senior managers from various companies in the economy gathered at Beit Israchert, in order to jointly examine a new facet in organizations which we have never had to deal with on such a scale: bereavement, trauma and post-trauma.
The conference was opened by Limor Shako, Vice President of Human Resources at Israchert, and spoke about the power of a community as a healing lever and a tool for growth from crises. Limor also said that "in the business world, the role of human resources, among other things, is to be a place of refuge, support and resilience for employees, to help them return to routine, to be their shoulder and to show them that they are not alone in this complexity."
Judy Afrimi, Deputy Director of MSA in Bint and mother of the late Ron, spoke about the ways in which organizations can make operational help available to bereaved families, assistance in speaking and dealing with the media, a car officer in arrangements, legal advice, help with bureaucratic authorities, and more Judy
compared dealing with trauma to a game of ladders and ropes: "At the individual level, the struggle is daily. Sometimes you climb ladders and sometimes there is a regression when you reach the ropes - the triggers that activate the bereavement. The manager and the HR team can identify and enable the slump moment and provide ladders through emotional support, or a simple task that will create work continuity. The manager can help with tracking and prioritizing tasks, because when the emotion rises, attention is lower and it should be allowed to focus not only on the important tasks but also on the tasks that created the feeling of competence."
Later in the conference, a variety of lectures were held:
Neely Goldfein, an expert on leadership and management in a world of disruption, spoke about a new language of management;
Maya Goldberg, psychologist and vice president of science and technology at TOKO, spoke about the exciting meeting between technology and assistance in the field of mental health, and how Toko, a platform that allows you to give and receive assistance from another person by your side, and to receive tools and skills for resilience and mental well-being such as communication, empathy, and stress management;
Dr. Mati Har Lev, the creator of the method for conscious leadership gave practical tools for dealing with traumas and growing from the content with the help of the practice of consciousness through four gates: responsibility, awareness of acceptance and creation;
Tzamarat First, a social entrepreneur and international lecturer, and Idan Alterman, an actor and comedian, reminded the participants why music is such an important part of healing processes.

His mother, Judy Afrimi, is the VP of the Binat Group and an active member of the community and human resources association in Israel. On March 23, 2024, Ron was supposed to celebrate his 27th birthday. May his memory and the memory of all the fallen be blessed.
