In the midst of the economic crisis and on the eve of the Easter celebration, the archbishop of Buenos Aires,
Jorge García Cuerva
, issued a warning for the adjustment he is making to the Government of Javier Milei and
demanded to think about "the victims of these measures."
.
"You have to think that when measures are taken
there are brothers who are victims of those measures
," said the Buenos Aires archbishop in an interview with Jorge Fontevecchia on the Net channel.
In line with the speech he made upon taking office in July of last year, García Cuerva asked to jump the rift and
"take charge of everyone" of inflation
, which he described as "an endemic disease" in the country.
Although he criticized the Government of Javier Milei when talking about the adjustment and suffering "of the poorest", García Cuerva maintained that he does not evaluate "this Government or the previous one in terms of the fact that
the social situation has been very complicated for a long time. "
a long time

"We all have to take charge, stop blaming others and
not have this adolescent behavior
that always blames the other person," he emphasized.
He also used a personal example to illustrate his concern about inflation and the impact on those who have the least. "Yesterday I went to buy a remedy for cholesterol, and thank God I have the opportunity to buy it,
I paid 26,000 pesos for a remedy for cholesterol
and when I paid I said my God, there are people who can't, they can't afford it, those are the human faces that we have to take into account," he said.
García Cuerva insisted that "inflation is the tax of the poor and unfortunately it seems to be an endemic disease."
And he closed: "It is everyone's issue, a great concern."
García Cuerva's message to young people, against "narcos and corrupt people"
Days ago, during a homily in the metropolitan cathedral, García Cuerva sought to challenge young people who want to leave the country due to lack of opportunities.
"Surely you heard a lot of people saying 'this country is crap', 'we don't go out anymore', 'I want to leave'. And some of them only dream of leaving the country. No guys: Argentina is us
,
" he said when presiding over the Mass for Education.
In that same sense, he added: "If all of us who want a good, fair, supportive Argentina, get our act together, we are more.
We are more than the drug traffickers, we are more than the corrupt.
We are also more than the selfish people who only think in their pockets."
