The high volume of traffic has left its mark, and federal highway 307 is now being renovated. On Tuesday, April 2nd, it starts between Aurach and Bayrischzell.
Bayrischzell/District – It is the first of three construction phases. The B 307 is being renovated from Spitzingstrasse to Tiroler Strasse in Bayrischzell, around ten kilometers. “We are starting all the preparatory measures, setting up the construction site equipment and so on during the Easter holidays in order to take advantage of the reduced traffic load,” explains Matthias Kreuz, responsible regional department manager at the Rosenheim State Building Authority.
First partial full closure between Bayrischzell and Aurach from April 8th
The measure will be divided into three construction phases. The first is the main route between the western end of Bayrischzell and the junction of St 2077 in Aurach. Here the existing roadway is milled away piece by piece and then a new binder and surface layer is installed. The plan is to carry out this between Monday, April 8th and Saturday, May 18th.
During this time, the area is only accessible to a limited extent: the road is accessible from Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. and all day on Sundays and public holidays. Outside of these time windows, this area is completely closed to through traffic and will be rerouted on a large scale.

The second construction phase is the area between Aurach and the junction to Spitzingsee. According to the state building authority, the renovation should take place within two weeks: “If everything goes according to plan, this section will be renovated from Monday, June 3rd, up to and including Friday, June 14th.” This area will be completely closed during the construction work, with a partial opening is not possible here.

Likewise in the third and final construction phase, the area from the western end of Bayrischzell and the junction of the St 2075 from the direction of Austria, which is directly adjacent. A total of one week is planned for the renovation. Traffic must be rerouted over a large area during the second construction phase; during the third construction phase, a small-scale, inner-city diversion will be set up.
Matthias Kreuz explains the planning and work: “Asphalt work depends on the weather; it is best to do it warm and dry. For this measure we are having a total of 24,000 tonnes of asphalt installed. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the construction company may have to reschedule or construction times may be postponed. Unfortunately, this risk always exists in road construction.”

If everything goes according to plan, the entire project will be completed by the end of June. During the preparatory work and for the follow-up work, half of the road is freely accessible and traffic is guided past the construction site using traffic lights. The Rosenheim State Building Authority will provide timely information about the progress of the construction work and the exact dates of the closures in the second and third construction phases. With this measure, the Free State of Bavaria is investing around 3.85 million euros in federal funds in the traffic safety of this important federal highway.
