Steffen Henssler is a real professional at the stove - but in one of the TV chef's restaurants things were probably not as professional as expected. Food inspectors made a damning verdict.
Bremen – Steffen Henssler (51) is known for shows like “Grill den Henssler” or “Kitchen Impossible”. Anyone who would like to enjoy his dishes privately has the opportunity to visit one of his restaurants, which are located throughout Germany. But during an inspection at the “Ahoi by Steffen Henssler” in Bremen, food inspectors found “poor” conditions.
“Slightly rotten” fish and mold: Steffen Henssler’s restaurant fails the inspection
Just a few weeks ago it became known that Steffen Henssler had to close several restaurants. Now another restaurant in Bremen is making negative headlines. As the
Bild
newspaper reports, inspectors on site made frightening observations. According to the protocol, fish products were stored incorrectly and the temperature specifications were not adhered to. Fish that were examined in the laboratory were classified as “slightly putrid”, “fishy” and “musty”. The food inspectors also found an increased number of germs.

“These are indicators that point to inadequate personnel or operational hygiene as well as improper or excessively long storage of the products,” the report states. But not only the food itself, but also the premises were examined more closely. The verdict – also frightening. Large areas of mold were found in the refrigerator. “The floor under the shelves was heavily contaminated with food residue, mold deposits and slimy, brownish-yellowish contamination,” the experts stated.
There are Steffen Henssler restaurants at these locations
According to the associated website, there are branches of “Ahoi by Steffen Henssler” in Bonn, Bremen, Grömitz, Hamburg, Hildesheim, Kiel, Cologne, Marina-Wendtorf, Oldenburg, Osnabrück, Ottendorf, Scharbeutz, Travemünde and Wismar.
Shock protocol in Steffen Henssler's restaurant: That's what the managing director says
When asked,
Bild
did not receive a statement from Steffen Henssler himself .
The reason: The TV star is not primarily responsible for the restaurant, but only designed the concept. His brother Peter Henssler is responsible for managing the Bremen location. He is “deeply shocked” by the defects discovered. “Cleanliness and the proper handling of food must be a matter of course for every restaurateur,” he emphasizes.

The statement continues: “In this unfortunate individual case, one must clearly speak of human error; personnel consequences have already been drawn and a new operations manager has been hired. In addition, all defects were addressed immediately, i.e. H. eliminated on the same day after discovery. This was also confirmed by the authorities during the subsequent inspection.” Steffen Henssler recently had to close two sushi bars in Bremen – this is what the guests have to say.
