The fire department is fighting a major fire in a recycling hall. Despite the enormous property damage, there is good news.
Wiedergeltingen - Late on Wednesday evening, March 27, 2024, at around 8:10 p.m., the Donau-Iller integrated control center was alerted to a fire in a recycling company via a fire alarm system. When the first fire brigade arrived, the company hall was already in flames, which spread to the roof structure on which there was a photovoltaic system.
130 emergency services try to put out the devastating fire - gigantic damage
There were no signs that the fire would spread to nearby buildings, so emergency services focused on extinguishing the hall. Fortunately, no one was injured as no one was working in the hall at the time the fire broke out.
The resulting material damage could amount to around 3.5 million euros. The fire brigades from Wiedergeltingen, Türkheim, Amberg, Buchloe, Bad Wörishofen and Mindelheim, together with two rescue vehicles and the THW, were on site with over 130 emergency services.

Investigations are underway - no danger from smoke
The Unterallgäu District Office - Immission Control, which was also on site with a team, carried out measurements due to the heavy smoke development. Significant pollution was not found in Wiedergeltingen or in neighboring Amberg.
The first on-site investigations were carried out by a patrol crew from PI Bad Wörishofen with the support of forces from PI Mindelheim. The Memmingen Criminal Investigation Service (KDD) took over the further investigations, which are being continued by the specialist commissioner of the Memmingen Criminal Police Inspectorate.
