Trouble with the NATO and EU rapid deployment force: According to a news agency report, an officer is being investigated.

Warsaw – Poland has recalled the Polish Eurocorps commander because of espionage investigations. As the Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday, "following new information about the officer," the services launched a "control investigation" into General Jaroslaw Gromadzinski's access to classified information.

Gromadzinski took over leadership of the Eurocorps in June 2023 - around a year and a half after Poland joined the multinational force with headquarters in Strasbourg as the sixth member.

Espionage investigations at Eurokorps – Germany is a “framework nation”

The Eurocorps, founded in 1992 on the initiative of Germany and France, is a rapid deployment force available to NATO and the EU. The main task is the management and coordination of large international military operations. The Eurocorps can lead up to 60,000 soldiers; the headquarters in Strasbourg consists of a staff with support units with around a thousand employees.

The troops come from numerous European countries. The “framework nations” are Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg and, since 2022, Poland. Greece, Italy, Romania, Turkey and Austria are involved as so-called associated nations.
